Norwood and the Crimean War
By John Clarke, Peter Hodgkinson and Nicholas Long MBE

Building on the success of their earlier research, Norwood and the Great War, West Norwood Cemetery and the Second World War, and Norwood and the Boer War, Peter Hodgkinson and John Clarke (with Nicholas Long) have now moved their attention to describe casualties from the Crimean War who are buried or commemorated in the West Norwood Cemetery.
This new booklet makes their findings freely available. Its 55 pages covers the lives of the 25 known burials, commemorations or associations with the Crimean War that can be found in the Cemetery. 14 memorials survive, but 4 were burials in common graves and probably had no memorial. 7 memorials are believed lost to the clearances undertaken by Lambeth Council in the 1970s and 1980s.
This booklet is available free of charge in anticipation that others will be able to contribute further information over time. If you can help, please contact us via editor@fownc.org
